19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of that year.

Success also means the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
